In developing its activities, EUROPARC Consulting is building upon the achievements of its parent organisation the EUROPARC Federation, including for example:

  • A successful record of managing complex projects, such as EU-funded programmes of technical assistance, training and exchange for protected areas across Europe and overseas. Key examples include:

EUROPARC Expertise Exchange, a major four-year project supporting protected areas in Central and Eastern Europe. Over 2000 people from protected areas and nature conservation organisations across the region benefited directly from participation in the project activities.

Partnership & Exchange Programme, a five-year project which strengthened local capacities to manage protected areas in 12 countries of Asia and Latin America through working partnerships and technical cooperation with European protected areas.
  • running international workshops and training seminars on a broad range of protected area management issues and themes, such as management planning, visitor management, monitoring in protected areas, environmental education, sustainable tourism, Natura 2000, or public relations for protected areas (e.g. the Leadership Programme).
  • Drawing upon teams of international experts to produce guidelines and management tools for protected areas’ work in key topic areas. A significant example is the highly successful report “Loving Them to Death – Sustainable Tourism in Europe’s Nature and National Parks” (see EUROPARC Publications List).

Building on this broad experience, EUROPARC Consulting has proceeded to implement a range of assignments since its foundation in 2001: examples are presented under Recent Assignments.
